Fare City Visit

Posted on: Jan 22
Fare City are an award winning London based think tank promoting accessible, equitable and sustainable city transport. We were very lucky to be able to host a visit from them on Friday 17th January, when they presented to our year 7s and 8s about their work around promoting sustainable and ecologically friendly transport around London. During the talk, Charles (an architect) and Gulcan (an urban planner) challenged our students to think about:
  • how they see themselves as Londoners and what they want that London to look like in the future;
  • how and why they travel;
  • how they could reduce their journeys;
  • their use of bikes, walking, scooters and other sustainable travel forms.
A major part of their talk was on the closure of Hammersmith Bridge in 2019 and their work in engaging the community in that area about the potential to keep it as only a pedestrian bridge in the future. They also engaged our students with their career paths. We are looking forward to doing further joint work with Fare City and will update you about this in due course.

If you would like to know more, please have a look at Fare City's report about their visit which can be found here
